Every serious AI coding harness, already authenticated
You do not have to pick one. Every harness below is pre-installed,
already on PATH, and switching between them mid-task costs
nothing but typing a different word.
dpc free models
DevPlace Code comes first here for the same reason it comes first everywhere else in this environment: it ships with the platform itself. It is DevPlace's own coding-agent CLI, vendored directly into this image and authenticated automatically against your own DevPlace account the moment your workspace is created, no API key to paste in anywhere. It routes requests through DevPlace's own smart model-selection system, which includes free model access on your own account. This is the one harness on this box that is yours by default, not a choice you had to make.
opencode free models
Objectively the strongest free option in the whole roster. Opencode is built specifically around free-tier and low-cost open models, with a resource allowance generous enough to actually get work done on, not a token trickle that runs out after one prompt. If the goal is to vibe-code without babysitting a quota, this is where to start.
The rest of the roster

claude | Anthropic's own agentic coding CLI, the same family of models this platform's own tooling is built with. |
codex | OpenAI's coding CLI, built around the Codex/GPT model family. |
gemini | Google's Gemini CLI. A Google account gets a real, usable free tier through it, one of the more generous free entry points on this box. |
grok | xAI's coding agent CLI, built on the Grok model family. |
aider | The original AI pair-programming CLI, git-native and model-agnostic since before "coding agent" was a category. |

agent (Cursor) | Cursor's standalone terminal agent, the CLI half of the Cursor editor, installed here under the name agent. |
goose | Block's open-source, extensible coding agent. |
copilot | GitHub Copilot's CLI. GitHub's own free tiers, including the Student Developer Pack and open-source maintainer program, work here directly. |
qwen | Alibaba's Qwen coding CLI, built on the openly-licensed Qwen model family. |
dsh | DeepSeek's terminal coding assistant, backed by DeepSeek's famously low-cost model family. |

crush | Charm's terminal coding agent, from the team behind some of the best-loved terminal UI tooling around. |
kilo | Kilo Code's terminal coding agent. |
auggie | Augment Code's coding agent CLI. |
cline | The terminal counterpart to the popular Cline editor extension. |
droid | Factory's autonomous coding agent CLI. |
pi | Earendil Works' coding agent CLI. |
hermes | Nous Research's agent CLI, built on their open Hermes model family. |
kiro-cli | AWS's Kiro coding agent, from the terminal. |
vibe | Mistral's coding agent CLI. |
warp | Warp's agent CLI, the terminal half of the Warp app. |
code-server: when a task wants a mouse
A full build of VS Code, running in the browser from inside your own container. Not every task is an agent's job; sometimes you just want a real GUI editor, and it is one command away, on the same box, over the same persistent filesystem.
Free-tier and pricing details belong to each vendor and change over time; check the provider's own current terms before relying on a specific number. What does not change is that every one of these is already installed and already ready to try.
