vim, nano, emacs

Whichever editor your fingers already know, it is here, and none of them were left on stock settings without thought.

vim: plugin-free by design

This is not a compromise, it is the point. No X11 clipboard, no scripting backend, zero plugins, zero plugin manager, zero network access at install time or runtime. scp this config to a box you have never seen and it works, because it only uses what a stock vim already ships with: 770+ syntax files, indent rules for 420+ filetypes, popup windows, and a fuzzy finder built entirely out of matchfuzzy().

Personal overrides go in ~/.vimrc.local, which this config sources last, so the shared file stays identical across every workspace on the platform.

nano and emacs

nano and emacs-nox (the terminal-only build, no X11 dead weight on a headless box) sit right next to vim on this image. Not every task, and not every person, wants a modal editor.
